My 100 watt bassman which I've heavily modified.
It's a cross between a plexi Marshall and a black face twin.
It has a metal grille to assist cooling. |
 |
Back view of the Bassman.
This amp has both kinds of tubes!
Switchable between 5881 and EL84 tubes. Dale Sherlock made the tube
adaptors and I came up with the packaging. It has a large fan on the
back panel to keep it solid all night. I can switch tube pairs on or
off. |
 |
Canora Les Paul Special made of mahogany and i found a couple of original '59 P90's and it's a cracker! |
 |
Italia 12 string with P90's. AWESOME! Hear it on many of the songs with Sharka. |
 |
My custom made Tele for slide.
It has WSC pickups, ashtray bridge, rosewood board and birdseye neck. |
 |
I love my old 70's Dobro, it's bell brass and I designed and fitted the
piezo pickup because I couldn't find any that worked quite right.
It has a beautiful chrysanthemum engraving and has graced dozens of
recording sessions and gigs all over the country. What an amazing sweet
yet crisp tone. |

'74 Fender Thinline Telecaster.
Custom pink paint by Merv Cargill.
This guitar used to belong to Chris Pettifer of Captain Spalding and
he's now the music writer for Neighbours!
The neck pickup is a custom wound Fender, the middle pickup is stock
Fender and the bridge is a splittable Schaller dual sound.
Late model strat tremolo and a very big, round, full WD birdseye maple
neck. Locking Schaller machine heads and graphite nut. I give the trem
a real workout live and it allways stays in tune.
As the song says, I got my eye on you! |
 |
Back view of the Thinline.
Some gig wear and you can see the trem lock I designed and fitted as
well as the extra cutaway lower bout. |
 |
Electric sitar.
My home made electric sitar with ebony bridge and sympathetic strings,
59' soapbar p/ups and a piezo under the bridge. This thing sounds like
a Coral but I get a bit more variation in tones. |
 |
My customized strat with splittable humbuckers and a single coil Texas
Special and Basswood body.
The extra wide neck was made by Slowco, rock maple and ebony.
I made the scratchplate and the artwork is from an old Guitar Player
magazine.
Locking Schaller heads, graphite nut and late model strat tremolo. |
 |
Hand made Vicente Sanchis Peg Head Flamenco. Very loud and crisp as well
as extremely light.
It has a super low action and records superbly. |
 |
'70 Gibson Firebird for slide with two great sounding pickups. As used on "Sausage A Glove" and "Drowning best of" as well as "Hey You". |
 |
 |
My gig case with main pedalboard and Toneworks multi effects.
I still use my ancient Vox wah but I also love my new Boss one.
I only use Belden or Dimarzio cables.
|
 |
Inside my home made pedalboard. It has a homemade buffer to keep the signal from loading up as it passes through all the cables and fuse protection ac and dc. Nigel Hodgson (R.I.P. mate you are deeply missed) designed and made the 2 amp switchmode power supply. He said the converter is the same as used on spacecraft! Beleive it or not I know where every wire goes! |
 |
My quad box is Birch ply and was mapped on computer then laser cut like a jigsaw puzzle by my friend Phillipe. The cut is so precise you could knock it together with a mallett and no glue! It has two 10" Lorantz bass speakers in the bottom and 2 odd CTS 12" in the top that came from Bob Starkie's old Vox. As heard on "Livin' in the Seventies" ! The 12's can be switched off. The large Frankenstein switch on the front operates.................... |
 |
...the heater coil inside which is my idea to load up the box and allow the Leslie cab to blend at the correct volume. I also prefer the sound of an open backed cab.
On the right is my Leslie cab; it is equipped with a 200 watt Fender 12" speaker which is mid mounted pointing downward. The rotating speaker baffle underneath disperses the sound wide around the room and has to be heard to be believed! I've used it on most of my albums and you'll hear it on the new one. |

My 60's Tigerstripe Yamaha kit. I bought it from Morgan Morris in the 80's and
I played them on the Drowning Best Of.
A fantastic sounding old kit. |
