I was born under a wandering star, no seriously I was born in Melbourne in 1960.
One of six kids, my two oldest sisters introduced me to music via their record collection and Rock 'n' Roll TV shows.
Shows such as the Johnny O'Keefe show, Happening and records by Roy Orbison and Elvis. After this I discovered Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin.
My first two albums were Deep Purple " Made in Japan " and Led Zeppellins'
" Houses of the Holy."
I started playing guitar in 1973, "Smoke on the water" was my first lick and other blues based songs were to follow.
I have played in many bands covering most styles of music and started teaching in 1985. By this point I could specialise in Blues and Rock guitar.
I was listening to Yes, Return to Forever, Frank Zappa, Ebenezer Von Wirtenhohl, The Sensational Alex Harvey Band, Classical, Spanish, Blues and Rock...
I played in bands to mention a few, Drowning on Dry land, Texas Flood, Kelly Auty Band and worked with many fine Australian artists and International artists (won't name drop here like every other insecure "Artiste") in various other studio and live projects. In 1990 I stepped up teaching discovering Steve Vai, Steve Morse, Eric Johnson, Paco De Lucia, Blind Blake, Still rockin' on the man: Rory Gallagher, Leo Kottke and Michael Hedges.
I have also enjoyed guitar competitions such as the Rebel Yell in Sydney in front of 3000 people for MTV, it was a lot of fun hanging with the roadies instead of all the tossers masquerading as guitar gods.
The Marshall Massacre Guitar Competition in Melbourne and also television appearances on various shows.
I have done a great deal of studio work over the years including some work in film and soundtrack and advertising as well as very different types of musical projects. I have Produced many types of artists.
